What does the position involve?
Availability: 5 days per week
Are you at the start of your career and would you like to work as an Employment Law Trainee Lawyer? We offer you the opportunity of a lawyer traineeship at a niche employment law firm in the center of Haarlem. While you are being trained as a lawyer, you can immediately get to work in practice with challenging employment law issues for companies and individuals. Think, for example, of legal guidance during a reorganization, advising and litigating on dismissal, or drafting employment conditions for a growing employer.
Studying case files and writing advice or legal documents.
Internal consultations, case law discussions, and training courses.
Meetings and court hearings.
Who are you?
- You have completed a university degree in Dutch Law, preferably with a master's in Employment Law.
- You are passionate and have a passion for (broad) employment law.
- You are commercially and communicatively skilled.
- You are a team player and work with us for the best result.
- You are a go-getter; when you start something, you do not rest until it is completed.
- You are entrepreneurial and you enjoy contributing to the further growth of the firm.
- Your availability is 5 days per week.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
“What I enjoy most about my work is that I can fully focus on and immerse myself in employment law, while still having a lot of variety within the field itself. I usually work for employers, but sometimes I also assist an employee. The topics are also very diverse. One moment it’s about a dismissal case and then, for example, about employer liability or social security. If it has to do with employment law, it comes across my desk! Also, the colleagues at Wessel van der Lans Advocaten are always available for questions, support, and guidance. I find that very pleasant and enjoyable to work with.”
What kind of cases are you currently working on?
“At the moment, I am working on, among other things, a case about inappropriate behavior, a redundancy issue, and a dismissal case.”
What should your new colleague definitely have?
“A sharp eye and a healthy dose of humor.”

Wessel Van der Lans Employment Law Attorneys is a young and informal law firm that is fully specialized in Employment Law. Our clients are primarily innovative companies in IT, food industry, culture, and media.
