Works Council

The Works Council deserves professional advice and guidance

The Works Council represents the interests of a company’s employees. The Works Council may also have a say in the management’s business decisions. For employers, consultation with the Works Council is a way to give personnel influence in decisions on company policy and thus to increase support. Through the Works Council, employees can be actively involved in the company and exert influence on the policy.

The tasks of a Works Council are interesting but also complex. The Works Council advises on complex decisions and must give its consent to regulations that affect the employment conditions of colleagues. Often these are matters that require a quick and professional solution. Professional advice and guidance is required.

Wessel Van der Lans Advocaten is familiar with employee participation law and acts as a lawyer for various works councils.  We advise on the establishment of a Works Council (when this is mandatory), on the powers of the Works Council (right of information, right of consent, right of advice and right of initiative) and on the facilities of the Works Council (time required, hiring of experts, etc.). In addition, we have expertise in employee participation in reorganisation processes.

Are you a Works Council member and do you have questions about employee participation law and/or the Dutch Works Councils Act? Or do you have questions about the cooperation with your Works Council? Please contact one of our lawyers by phone or fill in our contact form.
